 October 2022

Welcome Fall Blanketeers,

We would like to thank Jackie Gildea of Crawford County for her years as an Assistant. Jackie is turning a new page and will not be able to continue as our Assistant. Best of luck to you. Stay in touch with us.

Linda Hajtol our Mercer County Assistant will be adding Crawford County to her rounds of pick up and deliveries. Thank you very much.

If you want some sewing kits, we have several patterns now available for the asking. Many of them will have flannel backs with the kits. There are Super 9 Patch, 10” squares, Self binding receiving blankets and 24” squares. Now that the weather is getting a little cooler and we start to be inside more. Here is a great way to spend the afternoon sewing.

Listed below is a county by county list of drop off locations. I often receive calls and emails requesting this information. We are very grateful for all the time and help these Stores, Quilt Shoppe’ and individuals donate to NWPA Project Linus. Leave your contact information with your blankets, so that we know who has donated them.

Odds & Ends:

We are still in need of All size Boy Blankets. You may wonder why this request is posted so often. When we deliver blankets to any hospital or agency, we need to provide a mix of both boy and girl blankets. Very often when we receive a bag of new handmade blankets, there may be 2 boy blankets and 10 girl blankets. We know that the girl colors, prints, patterns, designs can be prettier, but we do need to supply both boy and girl blankets. Thank you for your understanding.

Just a review of approximate basic guidelines:

Preemie/newborn – 30 X 30   36 X 36   40 X 40

Toddler                    -- 40 X 52   45 X 60

Older kids                -- 45 X 60   45 X 72

REMINDERS:

  • If there are any groups that are interested in making fleece blankets as a Service project, please contact me so that I can email you directions for single layer fleece blankets.

  • When you knit or crochet an afghan, please use yarn and needle size that will make a beautiful cozy blanket that little fingers won’t get caught in. There are many Patterns that you can use, even ones that are a bit “ holey”. If you are making afghans for an older child, then this isn’t an issue. Again, thank you for your consideration.
