August Newsletter

August  , 2020
Good Morning Blanketeers,

300 blankets, we were finally able to deliver blankets this past month ( July) to 17 Agencies. It took 2 delivery days to accomplish, but so wonderful to be able to deliver blankets to children in need.
NWPA Project Linus will be participating in its 7th Erie Gives on Tuesday August 11th from 8:00am – 8:00pm www.Eriegives.org  we qualify as a 501(c)(3) non profit and are registered for this ON-LINE event. Last year we raised $2,648.18. That was an amazing outpouring of support shown to our organization, it would be awesome if we could reach the $2,700.00 mark this year.
When you click onto the www.Eriegives.org site type in NWPA Project Linus
We would ask that if you give to a charity throughout the year that you would consider donating to NWPA Project Linus on that day.  Last year on this one day of fund raising over 5.5 million dollars were raised here in Erie. That is an incredible amount and we live in a very generous Community.
Your donation to NWPA Project Linus would help us to purchase blanket making materials , such as batting, flannel and cotton material to help us meet the growing need in our Community of children in need.

Odds and Ends :
- We are still in need of Boy blankets- All sizes and types ( knitted, crocheted, quilted and fleece tied) The reason that I keep putting this notation in most of our newsletters, is this. When we deliver our blankets to any hospital or agency, we need to provide a mix of boy and girl blankets. But if we get bags and bags of girl blankets, it is difficult to provide a variety for them.

Reminders:
-NICU Size Blankets 30 x 30   36 X 36 -Even though these little ones are very small, you might think that their blankets should be small as well. Not the case. These blankets are used to cover their isolettes to keep the light and sound out during their stay in the NICU.
- Remember to check your finished quilt or blanket for pins.

Looking Ahead:

February 20th 2021 -    National Make a Blanket Day

Blanket deliveries

Today was our first blanket deliver since mid March. 188 blankets went to 10 different agencies. We are also planning more deliveries in a few weeks to try and catch up.
Due to HIPAA regulations we seldomly have an opportunity to see a child receive a blanket. But, this morning while we were at an agency one of the Associates asked a little girl that had just come in, if she would like to pick out a blanket since today was her Birthday. We stopped in our tracks and turned around just as this little girl picked out a blanket and hugged it to herself. What a priceless moment.
