Cocktail and Colors- Erie

Join NWPA Project Linus for our 2nd Annual Cocktail and Color fundraising event on :

Thursday May 10th from 6:00-8:00  Artist Linda will be walking us through a beautiful "Sand Dune" painting. 

Perhaps think about purchasing a ticket for your mom,wife, girlfriend or just for that someone special in your life for Mother's Day. Sam's Cub will be proving our snacks for this event, but you will still need to bring your own beverages.
Many children in need in our community will benefit by the proceeds from this event, by our organization being able to purchase blanket making materials.

March Newsletter

Hello Blanketeers,      

                                                                      

Spring is almost here, and with our record breaking snow this winter, it can’t come soon enough.

I would like to thank all of our Quilt Shoppe’s and Blanketeers for supporting National Make a Blanket Day. Without all of you, we would not be able to deliver nearly 200 plus blankets to our 3 local hospitals and countless agencies that service children in our area on a monthly basis. “ It really does take a Village”… …..Our Blanketeers are a true testament to that statement. Thank you, thank you.

Kelly’s Sewing Corner at 3330 W. 26^th Street ( Village West) will be having classes the next 4 Saturdays, March  3,10,17,24, at 11:00 and 1:00 to teach how to make the Self binding receiving blankets. Kelly will provide the materials for this class. You will need to bring your sewing machine. Due to limited space please contact Kelly at 1-814-838-7158 to make your reservation. Also, the completed blanket will be donated to NWPA Project Linus. Thank you Kelly for offering this great class.

-Be watching for an exciting fundraising event for NWPA Project Linus coming later this Spring- a night out at Cocktails and Color in the Millcreek Square. As details become available I will put them on our blog , Face Book page and send out an updated email.

-Spring Sew In-Saturday April 21^st   10:00-4:00

 Due to ongoing renovations at Hampton Inn this years “Spring Sew In” has been moved to Blessed Sacrament Cafeteria at 26^th and Greengarden Blvd. We are hoping to have helpers that need service hours bring in our supplies. Next month I will have more details.

ODDS & ENDS:

-        It’s that time of year again for cutting muslin and tracing the squares. If anyone is interested, please contact me and I will get to you the supplies. 814-392-5583 or nwpaprojectlinus@hotmail.com

REMINDERS:

-        Due to hospital equipment and little fingers, when knitting or crocheting an afghan please use patterns or needle size with corresponding yarn so that the completed blanket isn’t too loose. Sometimes it might only take going to one size needle smaller to make all of the difference.

Community Service with Kohl's Associates

Last evening from 4:00-7:00 I had the pleasure of spending time with 10 Associates from Kohl’s at St. Mary’s At Asbury Ridge. They traced nearly 500 muslin squares, which is a great start to getting ready for our Summer events.

National Make a Blanket Day Reminder

The weather looks pretty good for tomorrow's National Make a Blanket Day. You can drop off your blankets at all of our locations or you can come in and sew at many of them as well. Check out a location and time near you.

National Make a Blanket Day reminder

We are just 10 days away from National Make a Blanket Day. The count down begins !!!! I have heard some comments, that due to our extra snowy winter that has kept many of us inside, that many of you have kept busy making all kinds of blankets. Sure hope that rumor is true and come NMABD, that we have a mountian of new handmade blankets to help bring comfort to children in need.
