August 2016 Newsletter
August , 2016
Good Morning Blanketeers,
Recently, I was sent a copy
of the “Prayers of the People” for the Brevillier Village as part of the Mass
Intentions.
Petitioner: Holy Spirit, who
inspired the good Samaritan, inspire us to care for our environment, to feed
our hungry, to house our homeless, to tutor our children, to visit our
housebound and imprisoned, to welcome the stranger, to pray for our sick and
addicted, and to wrap our babies in
soft Linus blankets. PEOPLE: Lord in your mercy.
We often say that as a need
arises for blankets or supplies they seemingly appear and we will say that the
LINUS ANGEL’s heard us. The same can be said with the upcoming Erie Gives Day. Your
consideration is greatly appreciated.
NWPA Project Linus will be participating
in its 3rd Erie Gives on
Tuesday August 9th from 8:00am – 8:00pm www.Eriegives.org we qualify as a 501(c)(3) non profit and are registered
for this ON-LINE event. Last
year we raised $857.05, it would be awesome if we could reach the $1,000 mark
this year.
When you click onto the www.Eriegives.org site type in NWPA Project
Linus
We would ask that if you give
to a charity throughout the year that you would consider donating to NWPA
Project Linus on that day. Last year on
this one day of fund raising over 2.8 million dollars were raised here in Erie.
That is an incredible amount and we live in a very generous Community.
Your donation to NWPA Project
Linus would help us to purchase blanket making materials to help us meet the
growing need in our Community of children in need.

Celebrate Erie August 19th-21st
– 1:00- 7:00
-
Join us for an
hour or two of fun at our booth in the “Kids Zone” newly located between 8th
-10th & State Street. We have a very large tent provided by the
city that protects us from the elements. There needs to be someone from our
Organization at the booth at all
times. The City does provide some volunteers that are wonderful helpers
that are there for a few hours at a time. So
if you stop down, it would allow us
to take a restroom or meal break .
-
Children and
Adults sit down and color all of those muslin squares that we have been tracing
all winter long. Many families come back year after year and enjoy coloring the
squares.
