August Newsletter
August , 2020
Good Morning Blanketeers,
300 blankets, we were finally
able to deliver blankets this past month ( July) to 17 Agencies. It took 2
delivery days to accomplish, but so wonderful to be able to deliver blankets to
children in need.
NWPA Project Linus will be participating
in its 7th Erie Gives on
Tuesday August 11th from 8:00am – 8:00pm www.Eriegives.org
we qualify as a 501(c)(3) non profit
and are registered for this ON-LINE
event. Last year we raised $2,648.18. That was an amazing outpouring of support
shown to our organization, it would be awesome if we could reach the $2,700.00
mark this year.
When you click onto the www.Eriegives.org site type in NWPA
Project Linus
We would ask that if you give
to a charity throughout the year that you would consider donating to NWPA
Project Linus on that day. Last year on
this one day of fund raising over 5.5 million dollars were raised here in Erie.
That is an incredible amount and we live in a very generous Community.
Your donation to NWPA Project
Linus would help us to purchase blanket making materials , such as batting,
flannel and cotton material to help us meet the growing need in our Community
of children in need.

Odds and Ends :
-
We are still in need of Boy blankets-
All sizes and types ( knitted, crocheted, quilted and fleece tied) The reason
that I keep putting this notation in most of our newsletters, is this. When we
deliver our blankets to any hospital or agency, we need to provide a mix of boy
and girl blankets. But if we get bags and bags of girl blankets, it is
difficult to provide a variety for them.
Reminders:
-NICU Size Blankets 30 x 30 36 X 36 -Even though these little ones are
very small, you might think that their blankets should be small as well. Not
the case. These blankets are used to cover their isolettes to keep the light
and sound out during their stay in the NICU.
- Remember to check your finished quilt or blanket for
pins.

Ahead:
February 20th 2021 - National
Make a Blanket Day

Blanket deliveries
Today was our first blanket deliver since mid March. 188 blankets went to 10 different agencies. We are also planning more deliveries in a few weeks to try and catch up.
Due to HIPAA regulations we seldomly have an opportunity to see a child receive a blanket. But, this morning while we were at an agency one of the Associates asked a little girl that had just come in, if she would like to pick out a blanket since today was her Birthday. We stopped in our tracks and turned around just as this little girl picked out a blanket and hugged it to herself. What a priceless moment.

July Newsletter
July 2020
Hello Blanketeers,
Hope everyone is
enjoying their summer, staying safe and healthy during this COVID-19 pandemic.
We are grateful for all of the blankets that were dropped off at our 3 drop off
days last month. In the coming days and weeks as more Agencies open up and we
find out their guidelines, we will then be able to start our blanket deliveries.
For the time being we
will not be having our Monthly meetings, but hope that you will all continue
your wonderful support of NWPA Project Linus by making blankets at home.
A few stores are back to
their normal hours as we have gone into the “Green Phase”, so please be supportive
of them as they have been of our organization.
Due to COVID-19 we will
NOT be having our annual Fall Sew In, we feel that in order to keep with CDC
guidelines that it would be too much for us to undertake at this time to keep
our Blanketeers safe. In lieu of a Sew In, we will announce at a later date
possibly a time when sewing kits can be picked up. Stay tuned…………..
Erie Gives Day, On August 11th,
it will be our 7th year participating in this amazing day of on-
line giving starting at 8:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m.by our community. When they
say that it takes a Village, it really and truly does. www.Eriegives.org
REMINDERS:
Fleece blankets can be
single or double layer, 1 ½ - 2 yards makes a great size blanket if you are
tying the blanket. Remember to trim the 2 selvage sides of the fleece before
you start to cut your strips and cut out the 4 corners as well.

June Newsletter
June, 2020
Hello Blanketeers,
We
hope that everyone is still staying safe and healthy during this COVID -19
Virus Pandemic.
We
have been asked about blanket drop offs. At this time with many of our Quilt
Shops and stores just opening up with very limited hours, restrictions and
themselves getting back to business, we ask that you do not drop off blankets
at their stores for the time being, with the exception of Doug Yaple’s at 1815 E. 38th.
That
being said, for this month, we are setting a time county by county for a drop
off day. We would appreciate that face masks be worn at the time of drop off
for your protection and ours.
Over
the years, these Quilt Shops and Stores have supported NWPA Project Linus, now
its really our time to support them and shop local.

in Erie. That is an incredible amount and we continue to have a very generous
Community.
Your donation to NWPA Project Linus would assist us to purchase
blanket making materials to help us meet the growing need in our Community of
children in need.
REMINDERS:
-Due to children's
allergies and possible respiratory issues, please refrain from the use of dryer
sheets, fabric softeners and scented bags when either laundering or storing
blanket making material.
We can only
accept NEW HANDMADE Blankets.
Blankets that are gently used and laundered can still find a much needed
home, perhaps at a Shelter or Group Home. But we cannot put a
“ Project
