Interview on Millcreek Government Channel

On August 25th I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Jessica James on the Millcreek Government Channel and it will begin airing on Time Warner the week of September 28, 2016. (Our “weeks” run Wednesday through Tuesday). It will show on Time Warner Suburban Channel 9 (if you have the digital box). If not you will be able to view the programs on your digital TV on channel 97.1.

Welcome Fall Blanketeers,

It’s that time of year for warm days and cool nights, along with Fall cleaning, please keep NWPA Project Linus in mind if you are getting your Sewing Room in order for those holiday projects and find that you have some left over material and yarn. We can always use pieces and parts to make those colorful and cheery blankets for the kids.

Annual Fall “ Sew In” Saturday October 1^st @ Hampton Inn 8050 Old Oliver Road Erie, PA

Time : 10:00-4:00

You will need the following:  Sewing Machine, All of your own Notions. If anyone has a small portable ironing board, Iron, cutting board, rotary cutter, please bring them with you.

If you knit or crochet please come and join us for the day as well.

The Meeting Room is on the first floor and we have access to the Hotel Baggage Carts to bring in our supplies.

We will provide the following:  Sewing Kits, (5 different fun patterns)  

 Lunch, Beverages, and snacks.

Here again are the Quilt Shoppe’s and Blanketeers that are drop off locations for our Chapter. I often receive calls requesting this information. We are very grateful for all the time and help these Store’s and individuals donate to NWPA Project Linus.

Just want to share a photo. My friend recently lost her brother-in-law and their daughters and nieces received blankets from Project Linus. Thank you McDowell Cheer for helping this little girl cope with losing her uncle at such a tender young age!!

Hello Blanketeers,

Yesterday at the Erie Zoo was the presentation of the checks from the Erie Gives Day, it was wonderful and exciting to receive a check for $1,286.70. These donations will assist our organization greatly throughout the upcoming year with many assorted blanket making materials. Thank you, to all of those who donated on that very special day. Thank you to ALL of our Blanketeers, Volunteers and Quilt Shoppe’s that support NWPA Project Linus, because without you, we would not be able to meet the needs of the children in need our Community.

September 15-17 Quilting on the Bayfront – Sponsored by Millcreek Sewing

October 1 st -   “Sew In” Day 10:00am -4:00pm @ Hampton Inn 8050 Old Oliver Rd, Erie, PA 16509. Join the Blanketeers for a fun day of sewing, knitting or crocheting. As in the past sewing kits, iron, ironing board, cutting board and supplies will be provided. Lunch, beverages and snack are also included for the day.

Remember that we have the use of Hotel’s cart for ease of getting our sewing machines and other supplies to the conference room.

REMINDERS:  Blankets must be made with new cotton material, yarn or fleece–

Sometimes we are given bags of material that contain the following materials. Well intentioned and thoughtful, but due to children’s allergies or the type of material we cannot use their donations.

wool, jersey, metallic, polyester, sequined, home decor. These materials maybe useful for clothing or drapery, or other sewing project,  are not suitable for children’s blankets.

Erie Gives @ Erie Zoo

Today it was " Receive your check from Erie Gives Day" at the Erie Zoo. NWPA Project Linus with the help of a very generous Community received 1,286.00. These donations will assist our organization throughout the upcoming year with many assorted blanket making materials. Thank you to all that made this happen !!

Celebrate Erie

NWPA Project Linus will be at Celebrate Erie this weekend- Friday- Sunday 1:00-6:00.We are usually located directly across from the Warner Theater on State Street. Even an hour at a booth would allow a volunteer to take a break or go for dinner. We are required at all times to have a Representative on Sight.
- Often during an event we may have School volunteers, City volunteers and they would not be in a position to answer questions about our organization.

Wounded Warrior

This afternoon NWPA Project Linus had the opportunity and honor to be apart of handing out blankets to the children of " Wounded Warriors" at Camp Fitch sponsored by Golden Corral. The kids will enjoy a week filled with fun activities.
